Ahoj Discoverers!

On this trip, we will explore the Nature Park “Okolí Okoře a Budče” in the countryside to the north-west of Prague.

This protected area is named after two important historical landmarks and we are going to see them both!

Firstly the scenic ruin of the Okoř Castle and then the oldest standing building in the Czech Republic, the church at Budeč.

Both sights are connected by a very pleasant valley of Zákolanský potok ideal for hiking and biking.

Budeč was an early medieval stronghold and the place where the young prince Wenceslas (later St. Wenceslas) grew up and was educated in the early years of the 10th century.

We will start our tour at another interesting place, the Tuchoměřice Chateau, owned and run by the ecumenical catholic community “Chemin Neuf” and end it in the village of Zákolany known as the birthplace of the second “workers’ president” A. Zápotocký.

LOGISTICS

We will meet at 9:20 at the bus stop Bořislavka (cca 50 m from the metro station)
