Saturday Walk in Draháň

150

Let’s do our 10 000 steps a day and socialize with friendly people in the beautiful Natural Park Draháň – Troja in the north of Prague.

Sadly, it seems almost certain that in less than 5 years, this unique natural and cultural landscape will disappear forever under a new six-lane freeway.

It is not too late to stop it, so let’s see the affected places and hear arguments against this outdated, harmful and extremely costly project.

WHEN & WHERE

Saturday 10:00 at Kobylisy metro C station.

Hello Discoverers!

The Natural Park Draháň – Troja in the north of Prague, or “Draháň” for short, is a place for the recreation of tens of thousands of local residents as well as the home of protected flora and fauna and the site of the early Slavic fortress settlement “Zámka”.

Sadly, this unique natural and cultural landscape just 6 km from Prague Castle is doomed by the city planners to disappear forever under a trans-european six-lane motorway in less than 5 years.

You may wonder, is it really necessary? Will it improve the traffic congestion in Prague? Are there cheaper, more effective and less environmentally damaging alternatives?

On this walk, I will try to answer these questions while showing you around my favourite places.

DIFFICULTY: Easy to Medium

8km/5 miles mostly on unpaved trails. Some 130 meters/400 ft of vertical gain.
