You are cordially invited to a full-day hiking trip to the lovely Kokořínsko!
The Kokořínsko is a picturesque and peaceful natural area just 40 km/25 miles north of Prague. It is famous for peculiar sandstone rock formations, romantic ravines and villages with lovingly restored folk architecture.
Our trail will lead us under a canopy of trees for most of the day. A highlight will be a descend to a labyrinth of corridors between sandstone blocks of the Skalní město Bludiště (literally means “Rock town Maze”).
We will also admire the beautiful old cottages at Ráj and the rock formations like “Giant Head” and “Frog”.
To make the experience even more interesting, we will travel both ways on a retro train which used to run on Czechoslovak railways from 60’s to 90’s.
Please note:
The trip will go ahead in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately and pack a raincoat if rain is expected. Read my Cancellation Policy before booking your place(s).
LOGISTICS
We will meet at 8:15 AM in front of the main ticket office at the Prague Main Railway Station.
We will take a special train service featuring a retro diesel locomotive and wagons.
Lunch
In a nice local restaurant (not included).
Expected arrival time back in Prague is 19:00.
DIFFICULTY: Medium
(Surefootedness, good health and a decent level of physical fitness is necessary)
Around 14 kilometers/9 miles and some 400 meters/1300 ft of vertical gain (i.e. a bit more than walking up the Eiffel Tower).
The route will include uneven paths with stairs, stones, roots etc. Wearing good walking shoes is a must!
Plus, There is one place in the rock maze where the trail is fitted with chains to overcome a short steep section. You can see it on a video here.
PRICE: 490 Kč
The price includes two-way ticket on a retro train, the route prewalking and myself as your guide and organizer.
Children under 16 pay 290 Kč (create a separate order for them an enter ‘child16’ coupon code at the checkout). The trip is suitable for sporty children from 10 years up.
