Hello Discovereres!

You’re cordially invited to two-day on-foot crossing of the highest Czech mountain range. The Krkonoše form the natural border between the Czech Republic and Poland and in both countries, large areas of the mountains are designated national parks.

You will hike along the main ridge, from the west to the east and see many of the main attractions of the mountains, like the Mumlava Waterfall, the source of Elbe, the Elbe Waterfall, Labská bouda and of course the highest peak – the mighty Mt. Sněžka.

The trip will be led by a certified mountain leader and expert on Krkonoše Michal Hartl. Learn more about him on his website.

The overnight stay will be in Michal’s favourite mountain hotel and for Sunday lunch you’ll stop in the renowned Luční bouda (not included).

LOGISTICS

Meeting on Saturday at 8:00 at Černý most Bus Station

Expected return: Sunday at 21:30, Černý most Bus Station

DIFFICULTY: Medium to Demanding

(Will challenge most hikers. Good health and physical fitness is necessary)

This 2-day trek will involve 38 km of hiking and ascending some 1600 vertical metres (5250 ft). On top of that, you will need to maintain a good hiking speed to complete the route in the allocated time. If you usually walk at a steady but slow pace, this trip is too hard for you.

What to take with you

Sturdy hiking shoes, windproof/waterproof jacket, hat (to protect you from sun and/or wind), sun screen, pyjamas/comfortable clothes for sleeping, toiletries.

Do NOT bring a sleeping bag.

Please note:

The trip will go ahead in all weather conditions, unless a safety warning is issued by the mountain rescue service. Please dress appropriately.

PRICE

1890 Kč or 1690 Kč with Discovery Pass

The price includes round trip bus transport and accommodation in shared dorms (reserved just for our group, bedding provided), Sunday breakfast, guiding by a certified mountain leader, mandatory Travel Agency Insurance against bankruptcy and photos from the trip.

Children under 16 pay 1690 Kč (create a separate order for them an enter ‘child16’ coupon code at the checkout). The trip is suitable for sporty children from 12 years up.

Possible extra cost

If necessary due to the circumstances (time, tiredness, weather, etc.) we will take the cable car from the peak of Mt. Sněžka to Pec pod Sněžkou. This would cost additional 200 Kč and save us 6 km of hiking.
