Joins us for a canoeing and sightseeing trip along the Ohře river in western Bohemia. You’ll see old towns, a rocky river canyon and have fun running rapids!

Dear Discoverers,
after paddleboarding on Elbe in eastern Bohemia, this trip will take you to the western corner of the Czech Republic. We will spend two days canoeing on river Ohře. It is surrounded by pretty countryside and beautiful old towns, and usually has enough water throughout the whole year to make its occasional rapids fun to run.
LOGISTICS & ITINERARY
We will meet at 10:00 am on Saturday August 4 at Florenc Bus Station. We’re going to travel on a comfortable RegioJet bus with WC, wifi and free coffee. The bus journey takes 2 hours and 45 minutes.
We’re going to use 2-seat canoes.
The main highlight of the first day (Saturday) will be the picturesque historical town of Loket. In Czech “loket” means elbow as the town is situated above a sharp bend of Ohře in the shape of human elbow. On Sunday you will canoe through a deep rocky canyon with rapids and spectacular Svatosske Rocks. Already J.W.Goethe admired them during his stays in Karlovy Vary where we will return the canoes and have a couple of hours to wander around this exclusive spa town.
The bus journey from Karlovy Vary takes 2 hours and 15 minutes and should arrive back to Prague Florenc at 20:15. As usual a delay is possible, so don’t plan anything important for Sunday night.
WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU
Pack light, because you’ll need to squeeze all your belongings in a water-proof barrel. There will be one barrel per boat (2 people). All your stuff should fit into a 20-25 l size backpack. Shoes for walking in water (ideally sandals you can wear for walking on the shore too), sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent (there will be mosquitoes around the river), bathing suit/swimming trunks, pyjamas, toiletries, spare t-shirt,…

Includes round trip bus fare, canoeing equipment rental, hostel accommodation (in rooms for three) in Loket, myself as your local guide and organizer, Tour Operator Insurance and a photo report.
