Hallo meine Freunde!
Have you ever crossed an international border on a raft?
Whatever your answer, this trip is giving you an opportunity to do just that!
We’ll head to the north and ride the largest river in the Czech Republic, the Elbe! It won’t be the only superlative of the day as we will raft along the largest (!) sandstone canyon in the whole of Europe. This beautiful natural area is shared between us and Germany and so we too, pop across the border to our neighbors’.
Don’t hesitate a book your place because the group size is limited to max. 20 people!
DIFFICULTY: Easy to Medium
- This trip is suitable for rookie rafters and children from 10 years.
- You have to be able to swim to join!
- Some physical stamina is needed as you will ride some 15 km/9 miles long stretch of the river.
LOGISTICS & PLAN OF THE DAY
We will meet at 8:00 am at Prague Main Station (in front of the ticket office, see the photo below).
The train ride to Děčín takes approximately 90 minutes. After arriving to the river side (situated about 15 minutes walk from the train station), we will pick up the rafts*. You will be briefed about how to manoeuvre them on the river and off you go!
*You’re going to ride on inflatable rafts Gumotex Ontario 420 for 3-6 persons. If you prefer a canoe, it can be arranged. Let me know at filip@discoveringprague.cz!
You will ride some 15 km/9 miles long stretch of the river from Děčín to Schmilka in Saxony (Germany).
Expected arrival back in Prague is at 19:30. As always, a delay is possible. Avoid planning anything important for Sunday night.
WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU
Shoes to wear in water (sandals, or you can buy special shoes for walking in water), wear clothes which dry fast (NOT jeans), sunscreen, bottle of water, a small snack. You need to have a passport or EU identity card with you!
Put all your staff to a small compact bag.
Bring some Euros to buy a coffee or ice-cream in Germany (optional).
LUNCH
We’ll stop in the middle of the way in a restaurant (on the Czech side of the border). Lunch is not included (bring enough cash with you).
PRICE
950 CZK or 750 CZK with Discovery Pass
(includes train tickets to Decin and back from Germany to Prague, rental of rafts, life-jackets and all the necessary equipment, brief raft driving and safety training, a ferry ride across Elbe in Germany, myself as your guide and organizer)
Children under 16 years pay 750 CZK (apply coupon code ‘child16’ at the checkout, one child per one adult).
Max. group size is 20 people.
