Ahoj Discoverers!

For the first time, we will canoe about 12 km long stretch of the Berounka river in the heart of the protected landscape area Křivoklátsko.

A royal forest for centuries, Křivoklátsko will likely soon become the fifth national park of Czechia.

You can join even if you haven’t canoed before as long as you can swim. You should also be somewhat physically coordinated and have patience to learn a new motor skill.

I’m not a certified instructor but I have taught countless people the basics of canoeing.

DIFFICULTY: Easy to Medium

(depending on the water level on the day)

About  12 km / 8 miles. There is only 1 weir and some gentle rapids.

LOGISTICS

We will meet at 8:30 AM in front of the main ticket office at the Prague Main Railway Station.

We’ll be aiming to be back in Prague by 19:00. However, we will be as fast as the slowest members of our group and an unexpected delay is possible. This is a full-day event.

Food

We will stop for a restaurant lunch (not included). Alternatively bring a packed lunch.

What to bring with you

Shoes to wear in water (sandals, or you can buy special shoes for walking in water), wear clothes which dry fast (NOT jeans, lol), sunscreen, spare T-shirt, trousers and underwear (in case your canoe capsizes), towel, swimwear, bottle of water and a small snack.

Put all your staff to a small compact bag – we will put all our belongings into water-proof barrels and they are not very large.

Keep your phone in a waterproof case and have glasses on a string while on the river!
